If happen to be shopping on Santana Row in San Jose, don't miss these guys. Vintage Wine Merchants is an awesome wine shop. Everything from boutique domestic wines to classic Bordeaux producers from famed vintages, this is a very comprehensive shop. Plus you can grab a seat at the bar and sample some of the goods before you buy. I highly recommend stopping in and talking with Mike, Joe or Mark; they will know how to point you in the right direction for wine.
